Anxiety Therapy
Have You Been Stressed, Worried, Or Anxious Lately?
Are you constantly feeling tense, uneasy, or irritable for reasons you can’t quite explain? Do you often wake up fatigued, exhausted, unmotivated, and struggling to start your day? Have you experienced any challenging patterns, such as:
Excessive worry or rumination?
Restlessness or hopelessness?
Disconnection or withdrawal?
Perhaps you’ve experienced a recent loss, hardship, or life transition that has triggered or exacerbated your anxiety. Or maybe you’ve been coping with anxiety for years and are just now finally looking for some outside support.
Anxiety Can Wreak Havoc in Your Life
You may have noticed physical symptoms such as increased heart rate, rapid breathing, chest pains, stomach issues, muscle tension, or persistent fatigue. Or maybe you feel a general sense of unease that you just can’t seem to shake.
This heightened state of anxiety can leave you feeling overstimulated and hyper-aware, making social interactions more difficult. You may begin to feel disconnected in social settings, which could lead you to withdraw from activities and distance yourself from friends and family. Anxiety can feel overwhelming, impacting many areas of your life and making it difficult to find joy in the present and connect meaningfully with others.
Thankfully, even severe anxiety is highly treatable. Over the years, I've worked with many individuals who felt on the verge of giving up but ultimately transformed their lives with the right support, care, and treatment. Therapy can effectively help you address and overcome your anxiety, allowing you to embrace a more vibrant, fulfilling life—and who doesn't want that?
Most People Will Struggle With Anxiety At Some Point
Anxiety can play a crucial role in protecting us from potential dangers. However, it becomes problematic when it starts to control or limit our lives, posing a risk to our mental health. Women may be more predisposed to experiencing anxiety while men often face greater stigma around their anxiety and have access to fewer resources for support, making them less likely to seek help. Nevertheless, reaching out for assistance can be a life-changing decision.
Many Factors Beyond Our Control Can Contribute to Anxiety
In addition to genetic and biological factors, various environmental and cultural influences can lead to or intensify our anxiety. Smartphones and the internet constantly bombard us with news and information that can heighten our sense of unease. As a result, many individuals may turn to ineffective coping mechanisms to relieve their anxiety, which often makes it worse.
Counseling can help you get to the root cause of your anxiety. Often, anxiety signals that something deeper is at play, and it’s my job to help you figure out what that is. Sometimes, simply processing your feelings in a safe space can allow the anxiety to diminish on its own. Other times, we might need to do deeper work. No matter where you are on your journey, I am here to meet you and help you work toward relief and healing.
A Unique, Integrative Approach to Anxiety Therapy
Lifespan Integration Therapy (LI) fosters an integration of the past with the present, particularly in relation to grief and trauma. By implementing various protocols designed for each client, LI gently yet effectively repairs attachment wounds, heals trauma, and reduces anxiety. This healthy integration of past experiences creates new pathways for deeper emotional resilience moving forward.
Anxiety is intimately connected with the nervous system, particularly the autonomic nervous system (ANS), which regulates fight or flight responses and how we process emotions and perceived threats. With Lifespan Integration Therapy, we will work to gradually rewire your nervous system, addressing responses, patterns, and defense mechanisms that once served a purpose but no longer benefit you.
I want you to know that there is so much hope for you to live without debilitating anxiety. I’ve witnessed remarkable growth and progress in countless clients who felt close to giving up when we began our work together. I assure you that it’s never too late to move past your anxiety and create the life you actually want to live.
Anxiety Therapy Can Help You Reclaim Your Peace
When you’re experiencing anxiety symptoms, it can be difficult to see beyond the discomfort. Even mild anxiety can feel overwhelming, making it nearly impossible to calm and quiet your mind. Despite your best efforts, anxiety always seems to get in the way. There is often more beneath the surface; the symptoms are not the problem—they’re alerting you that something is amiss.
The root cause of anxiety often involves a complex interplay of factors, making a holistic and integrative treatment approach most effective. When anxiety continues to disrupt your daily life, it can reflect unresolved issues from the past spilling into the present. The good news is that there is hope for reclaiming your peace and calming anxiety.
You May Still Have Some Questions About Anxiety Counseling…
I’m curious about the cost of anxiety therapy.
Therapy is an investment in yourself so you can live a more authentic, fulfilling life. We pay to improve our outer appearance without questioning it but often don’t consider that our inner well-being is rooted in self-care, and that includes mental health. And while there is a cost to therapy, there is also a cost to untreated, unaddressed anxiety.
I’m concerned that I’ll become reliant on therapy.
Initially, the safety of therapy can feel so helpful that it can be hard to imagine letting go of that source of support. However, one of the results of Lifespan Integration Therapy is a person moving toward earned secure attachment. As this begins to happen, you start to feel more secure in yourself and realize you have far more inner resources than you ever realized.
I’m worried that therapy will make my anxiety worse.
This is a legitimate concern, as discussing trauma can reactivate the parts of the brain where it is stored, leading to defensive responses. Our brains are wired for survival, and these defenses are meant to protect us. The good news is that with Lifespan Integration Therapy, we don’t need to unpack every experience for the necessary shifts needed to occur. We will construct a timeline using specific memory cues; this approach is gentler on your system and helps your brain integrate past experiences. There will always be space for you to be seen and heard. Additionally, anxiety often begins to dissipate organically through regular timeline work.
