Have You Been Feeling Sad, Down, Or Stuck Lately?

When Depression Weighs You Down

That’s the thing about depression: A human being can survive almost anything, as long as she sees the end in sight. But depression is so insidious, and it compounds daily, that it’s impossible to ever see the end. The fog is like a cage without a key.”

- Elizabeth Wurtzel

Does it feel like you’re moving through each day on autopilot — drained, unmotivated, or overwhelmed?

Even if you normally juggle life’s demands with ease, lately you may find it difficult to just get through the day. The constant weight of sadness, guilt, or hopelessness may leave you feeling disconnected from yourselves and others. What once brought joy now feels empty.

Depression can feel isolating, but you don’t have to carry it alone. Together, we can begin to loosen the grip of that fog and open space for relief, resilience, and hope.

Understanding Depression

Depression often develops gradually, sometimes linked to grief, trauma, or major life transitions. Even “positive” changes, like becoming a parent or starting a new job, can trigger unexpected sadness or numbness.

Signs of depression can include:

  • Persistent sadness or emptiness

  • Irritability, guilt, or worry

  • Difficulty concentrating

  • Withdrawing from loved ones and activities you used to enjoy

The cultural message to “just push through” doesn’t work. That’s where therapy comes in — to help you move out of isolation and into support, healing, and growth.

HowDepression and Grief Overlap

For many, depression is deeply connected with experiences of loss — whether it’s the death of a loved one, the end of a relationship, or even ambiguous losses that others may not fully recognize. Loss can leave you feeling stuck, disoriented, or disconnected from yourself.

Part of our work together may be gently exploring these places of grief, making sense of what you’ve carried alone, and discovering ways to move forward without losing connection to the memories or relationships that matter most.

Depression Is Incredibly Common—And Treatable

You are not alone; many people experience depression. While it can be triggered by difficult life events, fresh or unprocessed grief, stress, and unresolved childhood trauma, a range of factors—both personal and environmental—can contribute to depressive symptoms.

For example, in the Seattle area, the frequent rain and cloudy days can limit exposure to Vitamin D, making you more vulnerable to symptoms of depression.

Fortunately, effective depression treatment options are available. Through Lifespan Integration (LI) therapy, I can help you regain your sense of self and re-engage with the world around you.

Opening The Door To Support And Growth

You might be ready to get help, but for some, reaching out for support can feel difficult. You might worry that others will see you as weak or lacking faith, and you may feel shame for not being able to handle things on your own. That’s okay—reach out anyway.

Together, we’ll address the underlying issues contributing to your depression, whether they involve past trauma, life transitions, family dynamics, or grief. I’m here to support you in creating lasting positive changes.

An Integrative Approach to Depression Therapy

I believe everyone needs a witness — someone who can hold their story with compassion and without judgment. In our work together, we’ll uncover what’s keeping you stuck, whether it’s unresolved grief, trauma, or self-critical beliefs, and create new possibilities for healing.

Here’s the good news: therapy can help you untangle what feels heavy, calm your nervous system, and reconnect with the parts of yourself that have felt out of reach.

I use Lifespan Integration therapy (LI) — a gentle, somatic (body-based) method that helps your nervous system heal old pain without reliving every detail. LI works at a deep neural level to quiet outdated defenses, reduce reactivity, and create lasting shifts in how you experience yourself and your relationships.

Clients often describe LI as grounding, calming, and more effective than traditional talk therapy. Many begin to feel relief faster, which opens the door for deeper healing and long-term change that is sustainable.

You May Have Some Concerns About Depression Therapy…

How long will it take before I see a difference in therapy?

Every person is different, but many clients begin to feel relief sooner than they expect. Because I use LI, the process often moves faster than traditional talk therapy, offering symptom relief while laying the foundation for deeper healing

Is online therapy effective?

That’s normal. What matters most isn’t the format but the relationship we build. Research shows online therapy is just as effective as in-person, with the added benefit of convenience. If you live in Washington state, we can work together virtually in a way that’s flexible and effective.

I’ve tried therapy before, but it didn’t work—how will this be any different?

It’s discouraging to try therapy and not feel a difference. Often, the approach wasn’t the right fit. LI works differently because it engages both the mind and body, helping your nervous system reset. Many clients who felt stuck before have found real, lasting change here.

You Can Reclaim Your Sense of Self and Wellbeing

Even when hope feels far away, change is possible. You don’t have to carry this alone.
